Are you throwing it all away?

Reducing our carbon footprint is more important than ever

Like most small community recycling programs, not all items are accepted. Below is a list of the items that are accepted and how to prepare them for the recycling.

Recyclables

  • Plastics 1 (bottles) and Plastics 2 (jugs) – rinse/clean out
  • Aluminum Cans (soda cans) – pour/rinse out.
  • Steel/Tin Cans (soup cans) – pour/rinse out.
  • Newspaper – keep dry
  • Magazines – keep dry
  • Junk Mail/Mixed Paper – keep dry
  • Cardboard – keep dry; flatten boxes

It is not necessary to remove any labels.

Monroe City @ Blue Jean Center Thursdays 2-6 & Saturdays 8-2
Sandborn @ Water Dept. Fridays 2-6 & Saturdays 8-2
Bicknell Recycling Center 303 E. 1st street  Tuesday, Wednesday, Fridays 9-3 & Saturdays 9-1

Vincennes Curbside Recycling

Vincennes Clerks office to purchase green curbside bins $5/each
For recycling and trash pick up information contact Vincennes Street & Sanitation department

The Knox County Recycling & Solid Waste Management District does NOT pick up trash.

What Is Accepted

Plastics #1 (bottles), #2 (jugs) and #5 (tubs)
All types of paper  (NOT SHREDDED)
Steel and Aluminum Cans
All types of card board, (BROKEN DOWN and Packaging materials removed)
All materials should be Clean, Dry and Sorted.

What is NOT Accepted

Plastic film or plastic bags ( Take to Kohls, WalMart, Jay C’s, or Lowes)
E-waste (Check our HHW Page for more info)
No glass, microwave dinner trays, take out containers/cups, berry containers, Styrofoam, waxy cartons, trash bags.

Vincennes Curbside Recycling

Green curbside bins $5/each
Can be purchased at 810 S, 17th Street, Vincennes
